An Exciting New Venture Pops-Up!

After a taking long break from jewelry this fall, an exciting new venture has coaxed me back into business.

The Studio is literally packed up in boxes around me, but that hasn't stopped me from making jewelry.

When one door closes...

Well, Alexis and I are closing the doors at 9th Street Studio. We had an awesome year, and soooo much fun. Alexis is moving to a larger gallery space @ Julia & Barrone, while I plot my next exciting move in the world of jewelry. Not to worry, even if you can't visit me at the studio, you may still shop for my work online and at shows.

Hold the Gold!

Well, I have no gold to show for my plating efforts. My solution died, but no fear, more is on the way. I will be surrounded by plenty of 24 karat sparkle by next week!

I will hopefully have many golden jewels like this very soon!

On a completely different note, my very good friend and studio mate Alexis Walter will be moving to a bigger studio. She will be very missed, but she's doing awesome and needs some extra room to paint those beautiful, big paintings of hers. With that said I'm putting my feelers out for some new company here at the studio.

Everything I've touched today has turned to gold!

I recently started gold plating my jewelry. It's quite a complex process that involves anodes, electricity, solutions, thermometers, gloves, safety glasses, etc. It's all very precise and scientific.

Sunday Funday?

I've been open at the studio on Sunday lately. Sunday is usually my only day off with the hubs, but it's been really busy here, so for now we have Sunday hours.

I like to give myself the day off at the studio on Sunday - I mean I should be brunching with a mimosa somewhere fabulous. So instead of making jewelry or doing anything remotely constructive, I spend the day (hopefully making lots of sales) and wasting time on Pinterest for 8 hours.

Not today. I got a large order, which is awesome! Because of said order I must clean my horror of a bench and workspace so I can actually make jewelry. I don't know how it happens. One day it's all Feng Shui and organization, and then all of a sudden - explosion! So after I post this the computer will be turned off and it's cleaning time.

The La Madrugada cocktail at Bouligny Tavern, New Orleans

Sometimes you need to take a break from making jewelry, and instead talk about making jewelry over a  cocktail. Yesterday I was lucky to spend a very happy, "happy hour" with my friend and fellow jeweler, Suzannah of Lark and Lotus Jewelry. Her work is gorgeous, very vintage and bohemian, with a mystical quality. So pretty!

Now onto the cocktails, Suzannah and I met up at Bouligny Tavern, on Magazine Street.  We both had the La Madrugada, a yummy tequila and grapefruit combo.  We accompanied our beverages with the fries and tarragon aioli. I could have eaten two plates by myself - they are so, so good! Everything was lovely, the drinks, the food, the swanky Mid-Century interior. Bouligny is owned by the chef of, and next door to, Lilette (one of my favorite restaurants) so you know everything is delish!
